Message definition (Table lamps)

If the lamp uses a mains voltage bulb (of whatever sort), test continuity between the plug and the bulb holder with a multimeter on a low resistance range. To do this, touch one probe on one of the pins of the plug (but not the big earth pin) and see if you can get a zero reading by touching the other probe on one of the contacts in the bulb holder. The switch may be off. Try it in the other position of the switch. Now repeat with the probe on the other pin of the plug. If you can't get a zero reading in either case then there is a break in the wire, or the switch is faulty.

Si la lampe utilise une ampoule à tension secteur (quelle qu'elle soit), testez la continuité entre la fiche et le support de l'ampoule à l'aide d'un multimètre à faible résistance. Pour ce faire, touchez une sonde sur l'une des broches de la fiche (mais pas la grande broche de terre) et voyez si vous pouvez obtenir une lecture nulle en touchant l'autre sonde sur l'un des contacts du support de l'ampoule. L'interrupteur est peut-être éteint. Essayez-le dans l'autre position de l'interrupteur. Répétez maintenant avec la sonde sur l'autre broche de la fiche. Si vous ne parvenez pas à obtenir une lecture nulle dans les deux cas, il y a une rupture du fil ou l'interrupteur est défectueux.
