NiCd or Nickel Cadmium is a type of rechargeable battery, similar in many ways to Nickel Metal Hydride but with higher maximum charge and discharge rates making it suitable for power tools and radio controlled models, and having greater tolerance to abuse, but suffering from a "memory effect" and containing toxic cadmium.
