A screwdriver.

Provided you have a screwdriver you can usually fix your stuff by taking it apart and fixing whatever is wrong inside.

If your stuff has been trodden on by an elephant, it may, regrettably, be beyond repair. Fortunately this doesn't often happen.

First, check the battery or the fuse.

Now look for any obvious damage.

Take out all the screws you can see. Look harder, and take out the 3 screws you didn't see at first.

It should now come apart. If not, take out the screw you still didn't see. Alternatively, try a hammer.

When you get inside, look for signs of burning. If there are none, shake it hard, tap it on the side with a hammer, and put all the screws back.

Put the spare screw you have left over in a paper bag and give it to the owner. Or save it in your box of spare screws.
