A Birmingham screwdriver is another name for a hammer. It has been libellously suggested that residents of the fine city of Birmingham don’t know or understand the different use cases for a screwdriver and for a hammer, and prefer to use the latter for all purposes. This is definitely not true, as evidenced by the proud engineering tradition of that great city.
