Glossary:Decoupling capacitor
Variations in the current drawn by one part of a circuit can affect the voltage of the supply, hence affecting another part of the circuit. "Decoupling capacitors" are commonly connected to a supply at various points in order to absorb these variations and minimise any such unwanted and detrimental couplings.
