NFC or Near Field Communication is a set of technologies allowing electromagnetic communication between two devices, usually no more than a few centimeters apart. Each device contains a coil of wire and together they form a transformer through which data can be passed. A small amount of power is also often passed to an NFC device such as a security tag, having no power source of its own.
