A SIM-swap attack is when a criminal convinces your mobile provider to give them a new SIM card for your phone. When they activate it your phone will go dead and they will then be able to request SMS-based password resets for your email and other online accounts, all of which will now go to their phone instead of yours. This is going to be a very bad day for you.
