Glossary:SODIMM

A SODIMM, or Small Outline Dual In-line Memory Module (sometimes known as a "RAM stick") is a small circuit board, one or more of which very commonly serve as main working memory in a laptop. It has contacts on both sides of an edge which mates with a socket (hence "Dual In-line") and contains a number of individual memory chips. There are different types containing various types and speeds of memory chip. A DIMM is a larger variant commonly used in destop computers.
