Glossary:SOT
SOT (Small Outline Transistor) is a type of surface mount package used for semiconductor devices requiring only a few connections. SOT-23 is a 3-pin package only 2.9mm long, very commonly used for transistors, voltage regulators and diodes. Other variants have up to 8 pins or have a tab instead of pins on one side, to help conduct heat away.
