Glossary:Silicon Carbide
Silicon carbide (SiC), as carborundum, has long been used as an abrasive, but it is also a semiconductor with useful properties for high power and high voltage applications. In recent years silicon carbide devices such as MOSFETs offering superior specifications to equivalent silicon devices have been increasingly used in applications such as EVs and power conversion.
