Glossary:Unicode

Unicode is a comprehensive character encoding standard that enables the consistent representation and handling of text from most of the world's writing systems. Unlike ASCII, which uses 7 bits and defines 128 characters, Unicode uses from 1 to 4 bytes to support over 143,000 characters, covering a wide array of scripts, symbols, and emojis. This standard ensures that text is displayed correctly across different platforms and languages, promoting universal data exchange and processing.
