Glossary:Silicon Carbide
Silicon carbide (as carborundum) has long been used as an abrasive, but it is also a semiconductor with useful properties for high power applications. In recent years silicon carbide devices such as MOSFETs having higher voltage and power ratings than equivalent silicon devices have been increasingly used in applications such as EVs and power conversion.
