There should be a thermal cut-out which will operate if the air flow is temporarily impeded for example by a towel. This may be self-resetting. There may also be a non-resettable cut-out designed to prevent a fire if the overheating starts to approach a dangerous level. If this has operated there may already be some damage, and you should make sure you've identified and corrected the root cause of the problem. --Pleriche (talk) 12:11, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
